July 2010 Turnover Doubles To Close To £1M During The Recession
The company has experienced an exceptional year of growth with turnover now very close to the £1 million mark.
"2009 was a challenging year for the market research industry but we have managed to buck the trend with a fantastic year of growth", reports Research Director James Hinde. "I believe now, more than ever, clients are looking to stretch their research budgets and achieve "more for less", which is something that we offer at DJS. We are competitive but offer senior Directors/Researchers from start to finish, who are able to deliver insightful results."
Senior Research Executive Lyn Allen who has recently joined the team, said "I am excited to be part of DJS Research's future plans. It is an innovative, forward thinking agency, with many bright ideas that demonstrate it knows how to survive challenging times."
Moving into the new financial year, Managing Director Danny Sims is optimistic about the future and confident that the company can achieve future growth targets and their aim to build the strongest research team in the North West.

DJS Research Helps Remote British Overseas Territory Attract Retirees
St Helena is one of the most remote islands in the world and is currently only accessible by sea. Earlier this year, the British government postponed plans to build an airport on the island, and thus they face a real challenge in attracting investment to the Island. DJS Research was approached to help understand how the Island could attract retirees.
Results from the study have shown that the climate and beauty of the island, as well as its relaxed pace of life, appealed to UK retirees, although as expected many were concerned by the limited access to the island. However, a clear niche was identified who found this limited access appealing and were less concerned about the practical issues.
Linda Houston, Managing Director, SHDA, comments: “I am delighted with the work DJS Research has done on this project. The final report has given us great insight into the potential retirement market here in St Helena.
“DJS provided us with a highly professional, courteous service, which delivered the results on time and to budget. What's more they did it with flare and in a way which was totally appropriate for the clientele.
We never met and yet were able to work together from a location 1200 miles from the nearest land mass and two weeks travel away from the UK. This not only shows the power of the internet, but also that if you get your customer care right from the start, anything is possible.”

As a result of the new recruit, DJS will now be led by four Research Directors who will continue to carry out all elements of the research process, from start to finish.
November 2007 At DJS Research we do not like to categorise our research experience as we feel it is a lot broader than this. However, conducting business to business research and international market research are areas of expertise for us. As a result, today (22nd November 2007) we have launched two further websites, which can be found at:
Business to Business Market Research
International Market Research
They are part of a series of planned websites aimed at promoting some of our specific services and areas of expertise. Do have a look and let us have any feedback.
November 2007 DJS in the news! Last week our local newspaper (Macclesfield Express) included an article on DJS Research in their business pages to highlight the recent succes we've had in winning a 5 year contract with a new client. Normally when pitching for projects we are up against 2-3 other suppliers. On this occassion we were one of 10 - so we did particularly well to win the contract.
October 2007 We have successfully recruited another Research Director to join the team. He has 13 years research experience and is an all round researcher. More details will be announced when he starts, which will be January 2008.
August 2007 To help with the continued growth of our company, we have decided to extend the team and are currently looking to recruit another Research Director. We are looking for an experienced researcher who would like to work within a small but growing consultancy. If you fit the bill or know someone who might be interested, please do get in touch through our online contact form.
July 2007 For the first time, we have decided to advertise within our industry magazine - "Research" from the Market Research Society and also "Marketing Week". Keep an eye out for our smiley face, we think it's a bit different. Within the advert we highlight that we provide a service that keeps our clients happy - which is proven by the fact that over 90% of our clients have come back for more (they are repeat customers).
June 2007 We have recently been involved in a large tender and procurement process for a major client. It rated us on our finances, resources and our ability to deliver high quality projects. We were pleased to hear that we were selected as one of their preferred suppliers. This means that over the next few years we will be receiving continuous briefs from the organisation. We feel this is a great achievement - we were up against 20 other market research companies and in two of our winning categories we came first!
May 2007 DJS in the news! The Market Research Society (MRS) kindly published our news item about the research we are conducting with the Jeanette Crizzle Trust (which is detailed below). In addition, the Northants Evening Telegraph also featured the story. The MRS coverage can be found here: MRS News Item
May 2007 We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a five year contract by the Jeanette Crizzle Trust to monitor and track awareness of blood, organs/tissues and bone marrow donation within the UK.
The study has been commissioned to track the effectiveness of a Government education programme, which will be launched in September 2007. An education pack will be distributed to all schools, aimed at promoting awareness among 14 to 16 year olds. The Chairman of the Jeanette Crizzle Trust said:
"Having looked at a number of research organisations DJS stood out as a company who are proven in the level of research necessary to complete Government reports. We were looking for a quality organisation to work with us and we believe we have found that in DJS"
We are delighted to be getting involved with the Jeanette Crizzle Trust. The project with us is due to commence in June 2007 and is likely to be an annual survey. Apart from carrying out the research, we have also been commissioned to write the annual report to the Health Minister. The intention is that the first report will be submitted in September 2007.
The Jeanette Crizzle Trust have also launched their own online survey, which can be found at: http://www.jeanettecrizzletrust.org/default.asp?page=230, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire.
Further information about the Jeanette Crizzle Trust can be found at: http://www.jeanettecrizzletrust.org/
April 2007 We would like to welcome and introduce our new member of the team: Sharon Nichols. Sharon has joined as a Research Director and brings with her a wealth of experience.
She previously worked at Harris Interactive UK where she conducted both consumer and business-to-business research projects. In particular, she has extensive experience of conducting branding, customer satisfaction, new product development and marketing communications research.
Sharon also has considerable experience in conducting international research, and has conducted research across every continent and in approximately 60 countries worldwide. This means that she has a strong understanding of both the domestic and international research markets, and the cultural differences which exist when conducting international research.
Sharon is a Senior Researcher and an important extension of the team. She will be heavily involved in managing and conducting her projects from start to finish - something that we pride ourselves on and know that our clients' value.
March 2007 At DJS Research we do not like to categorise our research experience as we feel it is a lot broader than this. However, customer satisfaction, performance monitoring and service improvement are areas that the Research Directors have worked in since starting their careers in research. To highlight this, today (29th March 2007) we have launched our first satellite website, which can be found at: http://www.customersatisfactionsurvey.org.uk/
It is the first in a series of planned satellite websites aimed at promoting some of our specific services. Do have a look: Customer Satisfaction Survey and let us have any feedback.
March 2007 We would like to welcome and introduce our new member of the team: Jane Edge. Jane brings with her a wealth of market research experience (has worked for over 20 years in the industry). She is an experienced interviewer and supervisor who has worked on numerous business to business and consumer projects.
Jane will be assisting with a number of tasks including fieldwork management, interviewing and project managment.
February 2007 We've moved from Derbyshire to Cheshire! - although in fact, it's only up the road from our old offices.
Due to continuing growth of the company and expanison of the team we have moved to larger offices based in a small village called "Rainow" near Macclesfield. Our new contact details can be found by clicking here: new contact details
We also have a new phone number which is 01663-732721
January 2007 2006 was a good year for us. Once again our turnover increased and we worked with a number of new clients including United Utilities, Powergen and Huntsman Textile Effects. Two thirds of our projects were from repeat clients and the other third (new clients) said that they were very likely to use us in the future (and some are already doing so).
As always, we would like to thank all of our clients for using our services and our suppliers who continue to help us offer an excellent service.
